About

Hand bookbinding requires technique, skill and practice, as well as a few specific hand tools. Full Tilt classes address all of these by focusing on one particular structure, incrementally. The needs of the present-day bookbinder are considered in conjunction with historical aspects of the book. Classes are accessible to all levels of experience. Beginners are very welcome and will find expert introductory instruction; more experienced students will practice, refine and expand their repertoires.

Full Tilt Bookbinding Classes was founded in 2009.

Full Tilt classes are full tilt! Each three or six hour class covers the same material as is typical in a one or two day workshop. The lectures and demonstrations are compressed and studio work time is minimal. It is likely that students will need extra time on their own to complete their class work. Full Tilt encourages this homework; it is an important part of the learning process. Homework can be completed without special equipment or tools.

In conjunction with the hands-on classes, Full Tilt posts bi-weekly audio podcasts at Bookbinding Now.
